Good morning. Parkersburg firefighters won a major legal victory after the West Virginia Supreme Court ruled the city illegally cut their pay. The court found the city violated state law when it reduced longevity and EMT certification pay back in 2017 without prior warning. The city argued it was fixing a past calculation error, but high court justices ruled four-to-one against them. The case now returns to local circuit court to determine back pay and damages.Meanwhile, a major Route 68 bridge in Wood County is shutting down this week. The West Virginia Division of Highways says the Pond Creek Bridge near Belleville will close to all traffic starting Thursday, June fourth. Officials say the current bridge has weight limits that block heavy commercial shipping. The bridge will remain closed until mid-August, and local drivers are advised to detour using Interstate 77.And volunteer crews spent Saturday night battling a massive house fire. First responders were called to Blue Front Hollow Road just after eight-thirty p.m. to find a home fully engulfed in flames. Crews contained the blaze, and emergency officials report no injuries.
